Swimming against the Tide —

I woke up bright and early this morning and decided I was going to sell my Standing Liberty quarter. For years the thing has been sitting in the back of my closet gathering dust amidst all of my other trinkets and treasures. I had no idea what it was worth and it’s been forever since I looked it up, so I decided to take the best offer that I got. I went around to all of the best places where you could buy gold coins, but nobody was giving me the price that I wanted. As the day wore on I started to realize that this particular piece had a lot of sentimental value to me, so I decided to keep it instead of basically giving it away to somebody.

As soon as I got home I started cleaning out the rest of my closet and realized that if I was going to continue to go this way in life, I was going to be swimming against the tide. I knew that if you wanted to be a good businessman you had to separate emotion from reality, which for me was a difficult thing to do. I’ve always done things like buy coins online on impulse, or because some girl said that one was pretty, and I realized now that that was a very foolish way to go through life.
